Habit: Mounded, rounded, dense, to 1.3 m tall, 1.5 m wide. Shrub but tends to climb on concrete, masonry, etc.
Leaves: Oval, toothed, dark green, leathery and glabrous.
Leaf Arrangement: opposite
Flowers and Fruit: Flowers late. Fruit spherical, <6 mm, white capsules with orange arils.
Water Use, Soil: Range of soil types, average moisture.
Exposure: Full sun to part shade. Does well in shade.
Landscape Uses: Accent plant, ground cover, mixed shrub border, sheared hedge, small garden/space, winter interest.
Limitations: Invasive in eastern North America.
